Kuwa Tribe - Shamaness Meditating

Description

It's been YEARS since I've drawn a member of the Kuwa tribe.  Here Is a shaman, or possibly an apprentice shaman  practicing some meditation in the jungle. And boy did this piece take a while to complete, I'm guessing more than 10 hours went into this drawing.  But I think it was worth it.

For those unfamiliar with the Kuwa Tribe, click here for their gallery.

The Kuwa tribe are an all-female tribe living on a deserted tropical island. The girls have no knowledge of outside civilization and live in their own world of rules, society and rituals that have been performed for generations on this island. They have their own language, writing system and mythology.

The tribe all have tanned skin, plump lips and bright, red eyes. Some have dark hair while others have red hair that match their eyes. The tribal girls also have markings that are applied from a paste made from local fruits. These markings show the person's class within the society, but are also customized every day depending on any events in the village, or what mood the girls are in that morning.

The tribal girls have many "classes" which help show their place in the village and in turn, the tribal society.

This is a Shaman(ess). The shamans perform spiritual and religious rituals. They also can help initiate new members of the tribe as well as help with one of the reproduction rituals.

I really like this concept but that's just it a concept there is no deeper story here. the concept itself is very original but since you made stuff for the same thing before its not one hundred percent original since its based on your older works. it has excellent technique but the background looks a little rushed. the impact is high because it means you will most likely do more with this concept in the very near future. there are some questions I have like what fruits do they use for the paste or how do the rituals work or what if a man showed up on the island.
